1 – Fear Prevents You To Live.

"There is nothing permanent except change."

-Heraclitus

Life is about moving on a life's path. Life itself is growing and evolving, and we together with it. You may have realized that fear plays the primary role in stopping you from moving forward and fully experiencing what your heart would desire in many scenarios in your life. This is one of the most unsatisfying feelings and a crippling state of being. How many times did you want to talk to someone inspiring, charming, or someone that you admired just to feel an intense fear of doing so stopping you?

This and other similar situations are not at all unusual in our life. And you are not alone as well if you found yourself in the previous example; everyone faces this more or less. Fear can stop you from living your potential, and it is the greatest obstacle in your desire to live a better life.

2 – Fear Prevents Change.

You will not be able to make constructive changes if you live listening to your fears. This is true, mainly because it makes you uncomfortable even to think about change, and making changes in your lifestyle makes you stressed. You cannot see yourself entering into another role or being a different person.

For instance, you may be fearing that changes will happen in your company, and someone will fire you. You may even feel unsatisfied with your working environment, but you are afraid to change and search for a new job or start your own business. Or perhaps, you would like to start traveling or move to a new country, but you are fearful of the changes. You may be scared that you will have to talk to unknown people, make new friends, have new neighbors, and even that you may need to find a new job. This is the fear of having to experience some changes in your life. These changes are often positive ones, but you cannot enjoy a much better life because of fear.

3 – Fear stops you from breaking destructive habits.

You may have a lifestyle that includes terrible habits. Some examples include excessive alcohol drinking, drug addiction, obesity (overeating), etc. These are only a few of the causes of some of the most common health problems.

But why do people continue to do these things despite knowing their harmful effects? The answer is simple; it helps them forget who they are and what is going on, especially if they are faced with a great deal of distress in their lives. It helps them feel numb.

If one feels unable to face one's fears which causes him stress and anxiety, he or she will succumb to these unhealthy habits. Then, on the one hand, they will be trying to break through the pattern, and on the other, they will need it as the only crutch that helps them numb their feelings for a while.

4 – It prevents you from reaching your life goals.

This sickening feeling of dread and fear will also block you from reaching your life goals. In some cases, the very thing you want to experience in life the most is the one you are avoiding the most. For example, you have the talent and skills and dream of starting your own business and become independent financially. Still, you are too afraid of seeing yourself as someone capable of taking on the responsibilities that come with it. This particular scenario, though very simple, is an excellent example of not being able to pursue your goals because of fear.

Final Thought

As a final thought, I am leaving you with this quote.

“There are four ways you can handle fear. You can go over it, under it, or around it. But if you are ever to put fear behind you, you must walk straight through it. Once you put fear behind you. Leave it there.”
